Eugene Trivizas

PROFESSOR OF CRIMINOLOGY, AUTHOR OF CHILDREN'S BOOKS AND PLAYWRIGHTER
Bio:

Eugene Trivizas is a lawyer, holds a degree in Law and Political and Economic Sciences from the University of Athens, a Masters degree of Laws(University College London) and a Doctorate in Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of London, teaches Criminology and Comparative Criminal Law at the University of Reading and heads the Department of Criminological Studies at the same University as Director of Criminal Justice Studies. He has taught at numerous institutions in the United Kingdom, as well as at Panteion University (1993-1998). However, he is better known to the general public for his literary work, with his first books being written in his childhood. With over 100 published children’s books, a book for adults and over 20 plays, he is considered one of the top Greek writers. He has received numerous awards both in Greece and internationally, his books have been translated into more than 10 languages, broadcasted on the BBC and some have been included in textbooks in Greece and USA, while his top plays have been played on international theatrical stages. In fact, the library of the University of Minnesota Minneapolis (EM Andersen Library) decided to collect all the literary books of Eugene Trivizas, studies on his work, manuscripts and other material in a special research collection. Finally, one of his most important works "The Three Little Wolves" in 1993 reached the second place of the American best sellers, with The Economist commenting that “only the most talented of writers can tamper with a classic nursery tale and produce something almost as amusing and thought-provoking as the original.
